What would happen if Riza Arshad, Dewa Budjana and Bintang Indrianto gather with Sandy Winarta? Something really interesting should be there as a result. And just a couple of days from now (May 15, 2009) they all will be together in one stage at Gedung Kesenian Jakarta.

Gideon Momongan said that it’s interesting to see all these great talented artists joining their forces. They are some of the best talents Indonesia has, who have been friends with each other since the 80′s. They were learned at Forum Musik Jack and Indra Lesmana that later turned as FARABI. From learning, then they became the lecturer in there. They were among the first graduate, especially Dewa Budjana and Riza Arshad. They played together in many occasions or events, for example at Green Pub or other pubs/cafes, they also appeared often at Jazz Spot at Hilton Hotel, or at Jazz Club at Music Room, Borobudur Hotel.

Since then, they all continued to pursue their career. Still, in many occasion they collaborated with each other. Dewa Budjana joined Riza Arshad in Dialogue, the first formation that shaped up SimakDialog later on. Entering the millenium, Bintang Indrianto joined Dewa Budjana Trio many times. It’s always interesting to follow their career. It’s very inspiring to see how they started and constantly building their career, step by step, until they have become who they are today, some of the greatest and most important jazz talents in Indonesia.

And now, they are going to have a very wonderful jazzin’ reunion. Eventhough they collided with each other quite often, either in studio or television, or in some jazz programs, still the chance to appear together on stage is needed. They all long for a new atmosphere where they can join together, making a special reunion on stage combining their music tastes as one. “I don’t know how it will turn out, but it would be wonderful to explore something different” Dewa Budjana said. While Bintang commented: “Let’s see how it turns out, I think it will be fun..” The combination of all the greatness they have achieved for years will create something different and special, that’s for sure. Bintang Indrianto, one of the best bassist that has his own character, Dewa Budjana that actively presented in many shapes, like in the pop-rock band, GIGI, and his own solo projects, and last but not least Riza Arshad, a very important key in Indonesian jazz movement that always has brilliant idea with superb skill through many bands he created, including SimakDialog and the brand new Trioscapes. Sandy Winarta, a young drummer with a promising career will join these great force.

So, here’s the news. I Gede Dewa Budjana, Bintang Indrianto, Riza Arshad and Sandy Winata will have their special performance at Gedung Kesenian Jakarta, May 15, 2009. The show will start at 8:00 PM, with the ticket price only IDR 50.000 and IDR 75.000. “We are going to play collaboratively. Jazz, fusion, world music, new age…something like that..” Riza Arshad said. Beside this quartet, there will be Barry Likumahuwa Project as well. This energic great young bassist, the son of the legendary Benny Likumahuwa, will give more color to this event. He will perform along with his own band.

With all those facts, I’m sure this is going to be a fantastic event. Many different colors, different shapes, different styles will be combined together by these highly talented jazz artists on stage, and those facts will make the May 15 night unforgettable. Make sure you won’t miss the event!

Admission : IDR 75.000 & IDR 50.000 (balcony)
