SALAMANDER BIG BAND – MID YEAR CONCERT
“It’s our first MID YEAR CONCERT and it’s FREE!”
Happy to say that swing is still alive in Indonesia. Thanks to some people that still concern about how to keep one of the most classic jazz genre alive like Devy Ferdianto and his Salamander Big Band.
Salamander Big Band is a very exceptional band from Bandung, the capital of West Java, Indonesia. They dare to go against the trend, exploring the world of swing with “the classic vehicle”, the original Big Band style. Salamander Big Band was formed on September 17, 2006. It was founded by young player who had the same vision, how to deliver the real and pure sound right from the real instruments. Devy Ferdianto, the conductor and leader of this big band once said, “yes, we already got all kinds of different sounds of trumpet digitally, but the feel would still be different when we hear the original sound produced by the real trumpet.” And that’s the vision that stays with them until now.
Salamander Big Band carries the traditional and original style and formation of swingy big band, just like how it was back then in the golden swing era, the roaring 20′s-40′s. Many times I have seen their performance, and I have to say I’m impressed. All the compostions have always been glorious, faithful to the nuance of swing golden era and really entertaining. They have brought many people back in time with the musical time travelling, to see how big this swing genre back then, and with this concert they will once again take you back to the golden era.
If you want to know how the real swing sound back then, if you want to enjoy the classic composition and formation of big band, if you want to know how jazz was started, you got to come to their concert. Also for you who might feel tired of hearing the same style of music all the time. Talented musicians in every line, stunning compositions, glorious real sound of real intruments will surely be there. Don’t forget that this is a FREE CONCERT!
So, for you who live in or near Bandung, don’t miss this great opportunity to taste the early form of jazz.
