Pergelaran Tunggal JAVAJAZZ (JAVAJAZZ Solo Concert)
This is the moment many jazz lovers have been waiting for. We have heard about the come back of the legendary group JAVAJAZZ for some times now, we also heard that a new album is on the way, entitled “Joy Joy Joy” to be released by this group. As many of us missed this phenomenal group, we should feel relieved that JAVAJAZZ is back on track, stronger than ever. Talking about jazz in Indonesia would never be complete without mentioning JavaJazz. This group has been known so well as the home of jazz virtuosos. JavaJazz was built under a strong base, with the formation of Indra Lesmana (keyboard/piano), Gilang Ramadan (drums), Donny Suhendra (guitar), Mates (bass) and the late Embong Rahardjo (sax) in the late 90′s. Two of their albums, Bulan Di Atas Asia (1994) and Sabda Prana (1998) became classics, even until today. JavaJazz went inactive after the saxophonist Embong Rahardjo passed away. The group went dissapeared for 10 years, but then 2009 became a very special year as we got the return of JavaJazz with a new formation. The group decided not to replace Embong Rahardjo on sax, instead they brought a guitarist from second formation back again, the maestro Dewa Budjana. Double guitarists formation will surely give a new perspective in the music style of JavaJazz, but of course without changing the true color that has been staying within them for all these years.
