Jazz for West Java : Charity Concert for Earthquake Survivors
Nobody wished for natural disaster to take place, but as we all know, a 7.3 Richter Scale earthquake struck several places in West Java on September 2, 2009. The earthquake was felt in almost every places in Java even Bali. All of a sudden many people died, many lost their home, lost their family members, got severely injured, and now live in poor condition. Buildings collapsed, dreams shattered, and they need our immediate help right now more than ever.
What can Jazz do for this? Thank God we got immediate response from jazz greats across generation. They all care and ready to help using their abilities and talents, gathering together to make a charity event for the victims. And here we have JAZZ FOR WEST JAVA: THE CHARITY CONCERT FOR EARTHQUAKE SURVIVORS. Dwiki Dharmawan stated that the response came fast from a lot of artists. They were all enthusiast participating in this charity concert. “God willing, just like how we cared about Tsunami victims in Aceh and Yogyakarta Earthquake, this time we are going to make a charity concert for earthquake victims in West Java”, Dwiki said in the meeting with all the concert committee.In just a short time, plenty of artists fill themselves on the list, ready to do something to help all the victims suffered from this terrible earthquake.
