The 32nd JGTC : Stage C Delight
As we wrapped up the report from stage A last night (November 29,2009), stage C roared loudly too with many amazing performers from different backgrounds and styles. Indra Aryadi and Friends who were also appeared at some JGTC Roadshow including in Bandung gave out their best performance under the pouring rain. Delivering stunning fusion texture, the band which led by JGTC’s own alumni Indra Aryadi gathered many jazz fans that still faithfully enjoying the show even with a very unfriendly weather.
Indro Hardjodikoro, a senior bassist who famously related to Halmahera and once joined the great simakDialog gave out a strong performance with his trio, Indro Hardjodikoro Trio. Again the funky fusion appeared from the stage. After being a session player and teacher for quite a long time, it’s time for Indro to show himself to the surface once again!
The stage got the whole different taste when KulKul appeared. They are one of the rare band who bring jazz with the heavy and authentic flavor of Balinese ethnical music. Mystical, magical and unique, complete with Balinese gamelan and traditional clothes, plus two violins, they gave out something very different that would definately gave new experience for jazz fans.
It was time for the modern soulful jazz movement leader in Indonesia to appear. Many of the audience had been waiting for them to appear. Maliq n d’Essentials changed the nuance into the fresh soulful and groovy mood. They rocked the stage totally with a superb stage performance. Energetic and full action, the crowds loved it and gave big cheer the whole time. Angga Puradiredja and friends brought their hits such as “Dia”, “The One”, “Blow My Mind” and also some songs taken from their most recent album, “Mata Hati Telinga”.
So much happening on Stage C last night. Maliq n d’Essentials wasn’t the one to close the show. Two other sessions coming up, including some exclusive pictures of Olivia Ong. Stay tune!
