David Warren was an insurance salesman. His love, believe and support has placed his daughter as the most prolific and successful contemporary songwriter of our time with tons of achievements. She is Diane Warren.

David Warren’s continuous and endless support has become such an inspiration for Diane Warren to write one of the most beautiful song ever existed, “Because You Loved Me”. This song was made popular through Celine Dion, and also included in “Up Close and Personal” OST and received a Grammy Award in 1996 for “Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media”. The song also won Critics’ Choice Award for “Best Song from a Motion Picture” category.

Diane once called as tone deaf by her music teacher when she was still a child. Her mother suggested her not to pursue her career in music. But it was her father, David Warren, who kept on pushing her to follow her dream in music. At the age of 10, he bought her a guitar. He was also the one who brought Diane to meet some music publishers, when she was still in her teenage years.

Diane Warren has an enormous passion in music. She never stopped writing, eventhough she realizes, as she once stated, the life in music industry is never easy. In 1983 Diane tasted her first success with her song “Solitaire”, sang by Laura Branigan that entered the “Top 10 Hit”. The next year, Diane Warren wrote the music for “Ghostbusters”, giving her another Grammy Award nomination in 1985.

After that, no one seemed to be able to stop her again to produce hits after hits. Some of her all time hits including “I Don’t Want Miss to a Thing” (Aerosmith), “When I See You Smile” (Bad English). “How Do I Live Without You” (Trisha Yearwood), “Un-Break My Heart” (Toni Braxton), “If I could Turn Back Time” (Cher), “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” (Starship), “Rhythm of the Night” (Debarge), “There You’ll Be” (Faith Hill) and “Can’t Fight the Moonlight” (LeAnn Rimes). If you look closer at these songs, you’ll see a very wide range of musical genres and styles, so diverse it’s difficult to believe these songs could have come from the same person. In Diane’s catalogue, there are more than 1000 songs, where at least 90 of them listed in “Top Hit” and no less than 70 songs became the music scores. Diane Warren has sold a lot more songs than the total of The Beatles, Elton John and Robbie Williams have made.

Speaking about her prestiguous career as a music writer, Diane Warren is listed in “Songwriter’s Hall of Fame”. She has won many ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) since 1988, Billboard’s Song Writer of the Year, many Grammy nominations, Oscar nominations, Golden Globe and many more achievements from all around the world. Another tremendous achievement that she got was when 7 of her songs, sang by 7 different singers, entered the Billboard Chart all at the same time. Later we noticed at Billboard Hot 100, two of her songs “How Do I Live Without You” and “Un-break My Heart” listed as “The Top 10 Songs of All Time”.

The long journey, full with unbelievable achievements, all came from the love of a father. Thank you David Warren, without you we would never have Diane Warren and her great songs. And now, you have the chance to see Diane Warren personally, performing right in front of you at AXIS Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival 2010Diane Warren’s Greatest Hits feat. Due Voci, Saturday, March 6, 2010 at D2 Main Hall, JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta.
