As Christmas is approaching, this is an album you gotta have. A beautiful album with beautiful arrangement and beautiful voice that will definately make your christmas merrier than ever.

Ngayong Pasko is Sitti’s brand new album. This is her very first Christmas album contains 13 wonderful songs. Some are mellow, some  are upbeat. Nice selection of songs ready for you to celebrate Christmas better than before.

I’ve heard some people said that bossa wouldn’t fit with Christmas carols. One friend once said, “there’s no snow in Rio, come on..” If you, like him, thought bossa wouldn’t fit with christmas carols, wait until you hear this album. There are some christmas songs served in bossa that will surely warm your Christmas celebration. “Winter Wonderland”, “All I Want For Christmas Is You”, “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”, “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” and the original song “Ngayong Pasko”,  all served in bossa, and yes, all those songs are just lovely.

What interesting is, in this album Sitti dare to go further exploring her capability. She tried to offer something different this time, by singing in other genres as well. There’s a sweet and romantic acoustic jazz, lounge style appeared in “The Christmas Song”. I’ll Be Home For Christmas” is another lounge-ish sweet and sentimental song, really touching, accompanied mostly by piano and choir by Las Piñas Boys Choir. This version is truly memorable. There’s also a duet with Christian Bautista in “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”. Their voice fits perfectly in harmony. This song is really cute.

If you’re into upbeat, get the blast with “Jingle Bell Rock” or let’s boogie with “Boogie Woogie Santa Claus”. “Grown Up Christmas List” is another heartwarming song which is beautifully done. These songs proved that Sitti can do more than her signature bossa style. Actually Sitti is not a stranger to these other-than-bossa genres. “in my early days as a lounge singer, I was into swing and standards and pop jazz already; these are genres I also thoroughly enjoy.” she said. And the decision to explore wider outside bossa has another intention as well. “it’s kind of an experiment on our side to see how the listeners would take it.” Sitti continued.  Did it work? Personally I’d say, it works perfectly! I’d love to hear more songs like these in albums to come. And if you see how this album goes in the market, it proves more. This album amazingly continues her winning streak, reaching no less than 10.000 sales even before it was officially launched, and already sold 12.500 units in less than 2 weeks of release. Amazing.

What Sitti wants to send as a message through this album is clear. “It’s a message of hope for a brighter, more harmonious future; a wish for peace and goodwill and love for everyone especially on Christmas.” she said. The message wrapped in a very beautiful composition and vocal. Everything is here. Sweet, romantic, cute, heartwarming, and joyful celebration, packed in Ngayong Pasko. This is a must have album, don’t miss this one. You’ll love this for long time to come.
